A little flashback to a couple of weeks ago in Markham! 💭🖼️

Swipe through to see some of our favorite moments from the Joseph Street Open House. Even though the weeks have flown by, I'm still smiling thinking about how much fun the gallery floor was.

It was such a wonderful whirlwind of people cozying up to The Year of the Horse canvases, zooming in on the deep textures, and asking the coolest, most curious questions. Watching everyone chat, laugh, and find their own stories in the paint was the absolute best part.

What a beautiful reminder of how much joy there is when we step away from our screens, hang out, and experience something creative together!

Our three-day Open House at Joseph Street wrapped up this past weekend, and my heart is incredibly full.

On Saturday afternoon, the exhibition received a very special visit from the Mayor of Markham, Frank Scarpitti @frank.scarpitti. It is a true honor to know that he took the time out of his busy schedule to stand in front of “The Year of the Horse” collection and support independent local art.

I am also deeply grateful for the beautiful Certificate of Appreciation presented on behalf of the Mayor and the Markham City Council to recognize our contribution to the local cultural community.

Thank you, Mayor Scarpitti, for your incredible support and for making our gallery space feel so welcome in the city. To everyone who walked through our doors this weekend to experience the work—thank you.

I thought the problem was the horse.

He wouldn’t move. Nothing I did was working, and I was getting frustrated. So I moved on to a different horse… and suddenly, everything felt easier. I thought I had figured it out. Until one day, I had to go back. Same horse. Same situation. But this time… everything was different. I got on, and just like that, we were moving.

That’s when it hit me.

It was never the horse.

Sometimes we think it’s the situation, the environment, or other people holding us back… when really, something within us has shifted.
